Finding the right Kita (Childcare) in Frankfurt. With insider knowledge, not luck.

A Kita (short for Kindertagesstätte, the German term for a childcare centre or nursery) is where your child’s educational journey in Germany begins. Frankfurt has over 1,300 Kita options, and the system has its own rules, processes and quality differences that aren’t obvious from the outside. I help you navigate it with clarity, in English.

You didn’t move to Frankfurt to become an expert in German bureaucracy

Kita placement in Frankfurt doesn’t work the way many parents expect. Kindernet (Frankfurt’s official childcare portal) is not a central waiting list. Every director and childminder decides independently. The placement process is largely informal, proactive contact matters significantly, and the quality differences between facilities vary far more than official classifications suggest.
Most expat families discover this the hard way. They register on Kindernet, wait, and then find themselves scrambling close to their start date with limited options remaining.
A well-timed, well-informed approach changes that outcome entirely.

The insider perspective you won’t find anywhere else

Before founding FutureKids Consulting, I spent several years as an education planner at Frankfurt’s Stadtschulamt (the city’s education authority), working in education monitoring and strategic school development. I know how the system works from the inside: the real allocation logic, the actual quality differences between facilities, and the approaches that improve families’ chances.
I also have years of hands-on experience as an educator in Frankfurt’s Kitas and Krippen (nurseries for children under three) and after-school facilities. I know what good childcare looks like in practice, not just on paper.
I hold a Master’s degree in Educational Science from Goethe University Frankfurt, I advise in both English and German, and as a mother who has personally navigated this system, I understand what is at stake for your family.
